Spotlight

Welcome to our very first Spotlight article!
We're kicking off this section with Mike Stuart's Keil Kraft Cub. Kitted as a glider in the 1950's, the plans also showed a conversion for a Jetex 50 motor. Mike built the glider version as a kid, but this time around he adapted it for a Rapier L2 engine. Apparently this worked out a bit too well, since he lost it on one of its earliest flights!

Here are some of Mike's comments:

"The glider looks like a miniature version of the Keil Kraft Chief A2 glider. The Jetex version has a cutaway rear fuselage behind the motor. The plan shows a Jetex 50 motor fitted, which means well over 200 mN (milliNewton) thrust. I seem to remember my Cub weighed only 18 grams, and was rather overpowered with a 105 mN rated Rapier L2 motor. With a Jetex 50, things must have been rather exciting!"
